Timing of examination:
- Before gestational age of week 14.
Preparation:
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing. No fasting required. Need to drink a lot of clear fluid and hold bladder for at least one hour before scanning.
Aim:
- To assess the gestational age of the baby, number of baby/ babies in the uterus, nuchal thickness for possible chromosomal abnormalities, presence of ovarian cyst and uterine fibroid.
